additional cost to customers. This is a yearly savings of $49.95.
DOWNLOADING TREND MICRO INTERNET SECURITY SOFTWARE
To download software
1. URL is
http://myaccount.volfirst.net, login with your email address &
password
2. Click the link on the left side for Trend Micro AV (note the
system requirements and
make sure your PC can handle the software).
3. Click the download now link (save it to your desktop).
4. Put in a description for the key that will be automatically
generated the first time you
visit the download page.
5. Write down or copy/paste the key (it's the serial number and
you will need it when you
install the program).
Once the software downloads (this takes a while since the file is
85MB)
1. Unhook from the internet by turning off the modem or router or
unplugging the network
card or USB cable. You need to be offline as you
will have no protection during this
process. If you don't have any now, it won't be
an issue. If you are replacing something
else with Trend, it does. If you are running a
router and have a private IP, this won't be
necessary either.
2. Uninstall the old AV product, firewall, etc. (start,
settings, control panel, add/remove
programs) It is important that any old, broken,
expired programs for internet security be
removed. The machine performance can be adversely
affected if the old stuff is running.
If you have Spybot S & D Version 1.4, now is the time
to remove it also. The newer 1.5
version is OK, but the old one has to be removed.
Some programs Trend will remove
itself during the install process.
3. Restart once the removal is done. If it doesn't ask you
to, restart anyway.
4. Double-click the install.exe file on your desktop.
5. Follow the prompts and accept the defaults unless you are sure
of what you want to do.
6. It will scan your PC before asking for the key/serial number.
Depending on the PC, this
could take some time. This is called the
Pre-installation checkup.
7. If it finds nothing, it will then ask for key. Once
entered it will ask if you want the full
install or the one without the firewall. The full
install is suggested. You can turn off what
you don't want later.
8. Next is the software rating and the website filtering. It
is suggested you do both.
9. Click install and your computer is on auto pilot now.
When the install finishes, you will want to restart
1. While your computer is restarting, turn the modem back on or
plug your cable back up.
You will be asked to register and updated. Your
computer must be online to do so.
2. Once your computer has restarted, you will be given a warning
about registering. Click
the URL register now in the warning window.
3. Fill in your name, country, and e-mail address. The rest
is optional.
4. Once you close the browser window from registration and click
the "X" on the registration
warning pop up, your computer will automatically start
getting updates.
5. Let this complete. Depending on your connection and PC,
this could take some time.
6. Once this process is finished, you should open the program via
the system tray icon or
the icon on the desktop.
The process is complete. It is recommended that you do a full scan
now that the latest updates are available for the program.
